Lieutenant Colonel Mathew enlisted in the U.S. Army, 2001 and later commissioned through Officer Candidate School as a Medical Service Corps Officer (67A), Fort Moore in 2005, and specialized as Health Services Comptroller (70C), 2011.  He earned his Bachelors of Cost Accounting, Mahatma Gandhi University, India 1995, Master of Business Administration, Liberty University, 2005, Master of Healthcare Administration, Northcentral University, 2011, and Advanced Studies of Data Analytics, Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, 2020.  He holds the coveted “A” proficiency designation bestowed by the Army Surgeon General, 2022.  Lieutenant Colonel Mathew is also a graduate of Defense Strategy Course and is a designated Army Strategist (6Z) by the Army War College. He also completed one year- Training within Industry with Tenet Healthcare Corporation, Baptist Systems, San Antonio, 2018.

He began Army career as a chaplain assistant at XVII Airborne Corps, Fort Liberty, 2001 and supported multiple deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom.  After his Primary Leadership Development Course, 2002 and Officer Basic Course, 2005, he was assigned as the S4-Logistics Officer for 168thMultifunctional Medical Battalion, 2006, and later assigned as Treatment Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for 75th Medical Company (Area Support), Daegu, South Korea.  Lieutenant Colonel Mathew’s next assignment was as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management at 44th MEDCOM, Fort Liberty, 2008.  He later commanded 51st Medical Logistics Company (2009- 2011) and deployed the unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where Lieutenant Colonel Mathew was also dual hatted as an accountable officer for Supply Support Activity (SSA), Balad for Class VIII, for the entirety of Iraq.  Following the command, Lieutenant Colonel Mathew completed the Health Services Comptroller Internship at Womack Army Medical Center, 2012, and then embarked on various strategic, operational, and tactical comptroller assignments which includes the following: Chief, Resource Management, USAMEDDAC-Alaska (2012-2014), Chief of Budget Integration, and Financial Systems, Army Medical Command, G8 (2014-2017), Chief, Business Operations Division, Tripler Army Medical Center (2018-2020), Army Medical Command Budget Officer, G8/9 SAM (2020-2021), and finally as the Chief of Business Integration Division, J8, Assistant Director for Resources and Personnel Integration, Defense Health Agency (DHA), (2021- 2024). 

Lieutenant Colonel Mathew holds the following certifications:  Charted Accountant, (1998), Certified Defense Financial Manager (2008), and Defense FM Certified at Levels II (2015) & III (2018).  He has won Assistant Secretary of Army Financial Management & Comptroller Budgeting Military Award at Army Command Level in 2016. He is awarded the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3) in 2020.  Lieutenant Colonel Mathew won the American Society of Military Comptrollers’(ASMC) Small Team Leader National Meritorious Award in 2022, and Large Team Leader National Meritorious Award in 2023. He also won ASMC’s prestigious Ernest J. Gregory National “Comptroller of the Year” Achievement Award for CFO/Comptroller in 2024. His military awards include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign and Combat Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal.  And his most important role in life is being the father of his sons Aakash, Manish and Akshay!
