Gilberto (Gil) Rodriguez
Major Gilberto Rodriguez joined the Army in 2001 as an enlisted Soldier and commissioned as a Medical Service Corps officer in 2008. Since then, he has served in several units, including a Medical Brigade, Military Hospital, Brigade Combat Team, Special Forces Group, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan, Joint Task Force, Medical Logistics Materiel Center, Defense Intelligence Agency, and others. He serves as the Chief of Medical Operations for the US Army South, US Southern Command.
MAJ Rodriguez's civilian education includes a BA in Psychosocial Studies, an MBA in Strategic Thinking and Innovation, and a Project Management Professional Certification. His military schools and certifications include Basic Leadership Course, Captain's Career Course, Special Operations Medical Indoctrination, Support Operations, Advance Critical Thinking and Analytics, and Command and General Staff College.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, the Parachutist's Badge and Air Assault's Badge. He is also a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
