James (Jim) Vinci
COL (Ret) James Vinci is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of Jesuit High School in that city. He was commissioned as an Ensign, US Navy after completion of Navy OCS in 1966, and reported for his first assignment in the “brown-water navy” in Vietnam. In 969 he inter-service transferred to the Army and was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps, with specialization in patient administration. His assignments included Registrar, and later, Outpatient Administrator, Andrew Rader Health Clinic, Fort Myer, VA; Instructor, Academy of Health Sciences, Fort Sam Houston, TX; Chief, Patient Administration Division, 5 th General Hospital and Bad Cannstatt MEDDAC, Stuttgart, Germany; Chief, Patient Administration Systems Division of the U.S. Army Patient Administration Systems and Biostatistics Activity, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas; Deputy Commander, and later Commander, Armed Services Medical Regulating Office, Scott AFB, Illinois; Inspector General, Academy of Health Sciences; and Chief, Patient Administration, 7 th Medical Command, Heidelberg, Germany. He is the is the recipient of many DOD, Navy and Army awards, to include the "Legion of Merit"
COL Vinci has a BS degree from the University of Houston, a Master degree in Management, and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Since 1996 he has been the Senior Healthcare Consultant for Holland and Davis and Endeavor Management, consulting firms, headquartered in Houston, TX., and currently a Principal of Aesop Management where he continues to do consulting work. He resides in San Antonio with his wife of 55 years, Joan. He serves on the board of directors of various organizations in San Antonio. His daughter, Tara Michaels, and son-in-law, Matt, and three grandchildren reside in Houston. Jim was one of the original founding fathers of our SCA Association and served at its first Treasurer and Board Director and later served in various other positions, including VP. He was instrumental in standing up, chartering, and codifying our organization. He currently manages the SCA LinkedIn site which he started, 2013. He was recently appointed by the SCA president to a new position as Senior Counselor to the Organization.
