John Eddy
COL (R) John P. Eddy is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Liberty University in 1991, his Masters of Healthcare Administration(Emergency Management) from Trident University International in 2006 and his Masters of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College in 2010.
COL (R) Eddy initially enlisted in the Army in June 1981 as an infantryman (11B). His first assignment was with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). From 1981 to 1988 he served in a series of infantry assignments in the Regular Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard and completed his enlisted service as a Staff Sergeant. In 1988 he was awarded an Army ROTC scholarship to attend Liberty University. Upon graduation in 1991 he was designated a Distinguished Military Graduate and was commissioned as a Medical Service Corps officer.

In 2004 he transitioned into the Army Reserve AGR program. His Army Reserve assignments include S3 and acting Commander, 341st Medical Battalion (Evacuation), Mesquite, Texas; Deputy G3 (Plans), 807th Medical Command, Seagoville, Texas; Deputy Surgeon (Plans & Operations), US Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Student, US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania; Chief of Medical Plans & Operations, US Army Reserve Command Surgeon, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Commander, 439th Medical Battalion (Multifunctional) , Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; Commander, 1st Medical Training Brigade (Centurions), Fort Gordon, Georgia; Commander, 3rd Medical Training Brigade (Mustangs) at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas and Chief of Staff and Command Executive Officer, Army Reserve Medical Command in Pinellas Park, Florida. In June 2021 he retired from the Army after 37 years of uniformed service.
COL (R) Eddy is a graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Jumpmaster School, AMEDD Officer Basic Course, Combat Casualty Care Course, Medical Management of Chemical Casualties Course, Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, the US Army War College (resident), the Joint Senior Medical Leaders Course, the Senior Leader Seminar, the Canadian Security Studies Programme, and the Medical Strategic Leadership Program.
His decorations include the Legion of Merit (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with nine Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with five Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal (with 1 Bronze Service Star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and the NATO Medal. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Australian, German, Irish, and Netherlands Parachutist Badges. In 2010 he was inducted into the prestigious Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3). Selected by the Office of the Surgeon General, he served from 2015 to 2019 as the Assistant Corps Chief for Reserve Affairs for the Medical Service Corps. In 2016 he was honored by the Surgeon General and awarded the 9A Proficiency Identifier.
COL (RET) Eddy is married to the former Debbie Lowry and they have two adult sons, Christopher and Matthew. He now serves as a Senior Program Manager for the Reserve Health Readiness Program with the Defense Health Agency.
