Vaughn Caudill
Mr. Vaughn E. Caudill last assignment before retirement was the Deputy Comptroller, 502d Comptroller Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. In coordination with the 502d CPTS Commander he provided base-level financial support to Joint Base San Antonio, which includes Fort Sam Houston, Camp Bullis, Lackland, and Randolph. Primary services included providing management advice and guidance to the wing commander and staff; overseeing financial services customer support and accounting liaison activities; providing oversight of non-appropriated fund financial operations; collecting and disbursing funds; and budgeting, managing, and reporting of all appropriated funds and wing resources.
COL (Ret) Vaughn Caudill entered the Army in 1975 after graduating from Morehead State University. Mr. Caudill has Base, MAJCOM, MWR, APF, Army, Air Force, Officer, Civilian, Personnel, Financial, Medical Operations, Instructor, and Joint Experience. He served on active duty from 1975 to 1988 before entering reserve status. In 1996 LTC Caudill was called to active duty to write the correspondence course “Resource Management for AMEDD Officers.” All AMEDD Officers use this course to learn resource management skills and this course is still used today. LTC Caudill was the Distinguished Winner in the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) Education, Training, and Career Development category in 1996. Additionally, COL Caudill was recalled from the retired list in 2003 where he deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, serving as J8 Comptroller for Joint Task Force – Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was selected as the winner in the Army’s Comptroller/Deputy Comptroller Under MAJCOM category for 2004. In 2016 COL Caudill was inducted into the Morehead State University Alumni Hall of Fame. Also, he received a National Leadership Award from the American Society of Military Comptrollers. In 2021 COL Caudill was the recipient of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Outstanding CPA in Government Lifetime Contribution Award and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
